I found almost every character in this book to be unlikeable but still wanted to know how things went down for both the past timeline characters and the present day cast. I wasn’t expecting the ending, but it was oddly satisfying and made me like Mari more. I am firmly in the #team70s camp.

The Chess and Emily story line leaves too many open questions. I don’t like posting spoilers, but wouldn’t the police have been involved? Don’t you think Chess and Matt were co-conspirators? Seems too much of a coincidence that Emily got sick again for the first time since being separated from Matt right after Chess made her a drink while she was out of the room. Also, and this is petty, but I HATE the name Chess.
