What I Read: July 2023 Edition
Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver
July 11th 2023
👁️ Kindle ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️(4.5)
July’s Selection for my Shelf Indulgence Book Club
This was a heartbreaking read. If you haven't watched Dopesick yet and want to see just how diabolical Purdue was it is worth the time. Also, I knew it was a modern retelling of David Copperfield, but I have not read David Copperfield. I decided to skim the Cliff Notes a bit. So much overlap and nods to the original characters!
The Color of Magic: A Novel of Discworld (Discworld #1) by Terry Pratchett
July 27th 2023
👁️ Kindle ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (2.5/3ish)
This has been on my “to read” list for ages, started it a few times and then struggled to get into. Finally made it through this time and not sure it lived up to the hype? Curious to see how I feel about the rest of Discworld.

Meh. Fine for YA but not my favorite. Quick summer read though, and I also liked that they main character was a female badass. I just don’t think a pirate’s life is for me. 🏴☠️
